Hillcrest Convalescent Center is
one of North Carolina’s first
nursing homes, and has become
the "Nursing
Home of Choice" for
families that
demand high quality care.
The founder and proprietors of Hillcrest
saw a dire need for competent, attentive
care for the
elderly, and sought to fulfill that
need. We opened our doors in 1951 and
we are family-owned, family-operated,
and family-focused.
Hillcrest was originally based in the old
Erwin mansion in Durham. The house was
replaced in 1975 and we expanded to
include a new front lobby, dining area,
kitchen, chapel, offices, beauty salon
and rehabilitation department. In 1990 another
major addition was completed with renovations
to the
kitchen, and the addition of the dining
room and sunroom. The
Assisted Living Center
was also finished in 1990, bringing the total
capacity to 154 residents.
The mission of Hillcrest has remained to
provide consistent, quality service to our families and residents.
One of the ways we ensure
quality of care is by coordinating a care plan meeting for every
resident. A team of professionals works with the resident
and the family to develop
goals and a plan of action for meeting the needs of the resident.
Hillcrest
Convalescent Center is
organized into the following departments:
Our
patient-to-nursing staff ratio exceeds current
State requirements.*
As a result, Hillcrest delivers and maintains quality care
and service through open communication between our qualified
staff, residents, and
families. For many, entering a nursing home is a new and oftentimes stressful
experience. We strive to make the adjustment as comfortable as possible.
We value the trust you have placed in us to care for you or your family
member. Everything we do is designed with a single focus – because it
is all about the care.
Our staff welcomes you and looks forward
to working with you.
