Hillcrest
is a 120-bed licensed, skilled nursing center with an additional
34 assisted living beds. Qualified
Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical
Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants
(CNAs) provide 24-hour nursing
services for all residents.
All medications
and treatments administered by the nursing staff must be
by
physician’s orders and are under
his/her direction and supervision.
Hillcrest employs a Registered Nurse (R.N.) supervisor 24 hours a day, seven days a
week; three times as much as the State requires.* Our Director of Nursing and
Assistant Director of Nursing, both RNs, are on site weekdays. Each day is
divided into three shifts. Change of shift occurs at 7-7:30am, 3-3:30pm
and 11-11:30pm.
Hillcrest strives to staff the facility with permanent,
full-time employees.
In
some cases, part-time personnel are utilized. If a resident should require
or
choose to have a private sitter while at Hillcrest, the family should inform
the
Director of Nursing. Hillcrest must approve a home health agency providing
private sitter services. The family is billed directly by
the agency; Medicare
does not cover these services. Personal grooming, such as bathing, dressing
and shaving, is done daily by the CNA assigned to the resident.
Whirlpool
baths are given monthly or more frequently if ordered by the physician. When changes are noted in a patient’s
condition, the Charge Nurse notifies the physician and primary emergency
contact person. In cases where a resident may need to be
sent to the hospital, the primary emergency contact as
designated by the admitting party is contacted.
All potential employees submit to drug testing. New CNAs
are fingerprinted, their North Carolina certification is
verified and a criminal
background check is completed.
